Jennifer Couturier is a child and adolescent psychiatrist, and is the medical co-director of the Eating Disorders Program at McMaster Children’s Hospital. She is an Associate Professor within the Departments of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences, Pediatrics, and Health Research Methods Evidence and Impact at McMaster University. Her research focuses on psychotherapy approaches for eating disorders, with a special interest in implementation of these treatments. She is the primary author of the first Canadian Practice Guidelines for the Treatment of Children and Adolescents with Eating Disorders published in 2020 and virtual care addendum published in 2021.

Current Treatment Consensus

This presentation will address current treatment practices for youth with eating disorders including an overview of the Canadian Practice Guidelines for the Treatment of Children and Adolescents with Eating Disorders and the virtual care addendum published in 2020 and 2021 respectively. These guidelines include recommendations for pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, as well as treatment environments for young people with eating disorders which will be reviewed in this session.
